South Australian aged care provider Lutheran Homes has strengthened its presence in regional Victoria, today announcing its latest purchase.

Lutheran Homes Group has acquired Mildura Gardens Retirement Village – an 87-strong unit community – as it pushes further into Victoria.
The acquisition includes the units, a community centre and two large parcels of land for future development. The entire facility will be renamed Lutheran Homes Group Mildura.
It brings LHG’s resident numbers to more than 2000 and its workforce and volunteer base to more than 1500.
LHG CEO Tim Chia – an InDaily 40 Under 40 alumni – said the acquisition of the site in the heart of Victoria’s Sunraysia region reflected the business’ commitment to regional communities.
“Mildura is a vibrant and growing regional centre with significant investment happening across the region,” Chia said.
“With a growing and ageing population, it is important that regional communities have access to high-quality retirement living and aged care close to home.”

The broader region supports 90,000 people, with about 30 per cent of residents aged over 55, which the company sees as strong future demand for retirement living and aged care services.
“We have already had the opportunity to spend time in Mildura and meet some of the wonderful residents and members of the community,” Chia said.
“It has been incredibly welcoming, and we look forward to building strong relationships and becoming part of the local community.”
Lutheran Homes kicked off its push into Victoria in June last year, purchasing two regional aged care communities. Those deals gave the not-for-profit an interstate presence for the first time.
The organisation bought Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Village in Horsham and Eventide Lutheran Homes & Hamilton Village in Hamilton.
These locations join LHG’s existing portfolio in South Australia, which includes Fullarton, Glynde, Hope Valley and Para Vista.
