SA almond giant receives major accolade
One of SA’s top companies has been honoured for its more than 80 years working as a growers’ co-op.
South Australian almond giant Almondco Australia has today been inducted into the Australian Export Hall of Fame for its long-term contribution to the Australian economy.
Based at Renmark in SA’s Riverland region and founded in 1944, Almondco is grower-owned and represents more than 85 per cent of the country’s almond growers.
It is one of the state’s largest companies – last year ranking 41st in InDaily’s South Australian Business Index, which ranks the top 100 companies in SA.
The company is both an almond processor and a marketing company, producing food-safe almond products exported globally.
Exports made up more than 69 per cent of Almondco’s sales in 2024, finding buyers in countries including China, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, India and Vietnam.
Almondco is a five-time national Australian Export Awards finalist (in 2023, 2012, 2010, 2009 and 1996) and three-time winner of the Regional Exporter award category in 2025, 2016 and 2011.
The Australian Export Awards are the country’s longest-running export awards program and celebrate the achievements of exporters and the contribution they make to the economy.
The Hall of Fame recognises exporters who have won the same or similar national category in three separate years or five times across all categories.
Almondco managing director Brenton Woolston said the honour was “a fantastic recognition for our grower-owned business”.
“It is a humbling acknowledgement for our members, key stakeholders and staff that have contributed to the success of the business for over 80 years,” Woolston said.
Other Hall of Fame inductees announced today include Queensland-based PWR Advanced Cooling Technology and three companies based in New South Wales: ResMed, SunRice Group and UOW Global Enterprises.

Australian Trade and Investment Commission CEO Dan Boyer said he was proud to recognise Almondco Australia in the Hall of Fame.
“These organisations represent the very best of Australian exporting — demonstrating sustained excellence, innovation and global ambition over many years,” Boyer said.
“Through their long-standing relationships with Austrade and our shared commitment to growing Australia’s presence in international markets, they have made an enduring contribution to Australia’s export community, economy and reputation on the world stage.”
