Aged care provider appoints new CEO

Not-for-profit aged care provider Rembrandt Living has appointed Paul Shields as its new CEO.

Shields has extensive experience in the aged care sector, having previously served as the executive manager of aged care at St Agnes’ Care and Lifestyle in Port Macquarie and was head of operations at Summerset Retirement Villages.

He was also Queensland state manager at large health and aged care companies including Japara Healthcare and Regis Aged Care.

Since 2024, Shields has been consulting within the aged care sector where he has supported new businesses to the residential aged care sector and managed the transition of homes to new owners and operators.

“My focus is on melding care, cultural and commercial imperatives to create a high performing organisation that delivers positive outcomes for residents, clients and their families,” Shields said.

Healthcare professional to lead Yorke and Northern Local Health Network

Dr Zoe Bishop has officially commenced her appointment as the new CEO of the Yorke and Northern Local Health Network (YNLHN).

Bishop has extensive experience working as a healthcare administrator and holds a research doctorate in business administration.

She has previously worked in high-profile roles across Australia, having been general manager of Calvary Private Hospitals in Tasmania and CEO of a private hospital on the Gold Coast.

For 8 years, Bishop worked in executive roles at Queensland Health as both general manager and chief of staff.

She has executive experience in strategic, system-wide and operational leadership across the not-for-profit, healthcare, aged care and disability sectors among others.

Barkuma unveils new CEO

Not-for-profit disability service provider Barkuma has announced the appointment of Evelyn O’Loughlin as new CEO.

O’Loughlin is an experienced leader in the not-for-profit, corporate and government sectors who is well regarded for her strong disability advocacy and effective relationship building across government and the disability sector.

For 13 years, O’Loughlin was leader of one of SA’s largest not-for-profit peak bodies as CEO of Volunteering SA and NT and has spent the last three years in her last role as CEO of St Vincent de Paul Society SA.

In the new role, O’Loughlin will lead Barkuma with a focus on strengthening partnerships, supporting sustainable growth and building connections with the state’s community and service sectors.

Adelaide Oval announces board succession

Adelaide Oval SMA Limited (AOSMA) has announced that Jamie Briggs will succeed outgoing chairman Rob Kerrin.

Briggs was formerly a member in the Australian Parliament for eight years where he served as Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development and Minister for Cities and Environment.

He recently founded a boutique advisory firm, Briggs Advisory, which provides discreet, high-impact counsel to leaders and organisations in business, politics and public policy.

He has been a member of the SACA board since 2021 and is a member of the AOSMA finance and audit committee.

“I am honoured to be nominated for the role and tasked with helping drive the future of this incredibly important asset for South Australia. I look forward to building on the momentum of achievement,” Briggs said.

Briggs position as chair is set to take effect in March following formal approval from the AOSMA board.

SA Museum Foundation appoints new board members

The SA Museum Foundation has appointed two new board members to strengthen the board’s governance and strategic capability to support the SA Museum.

Ida Wong has more than 25 years’ experience working in senior banking and wealth management roles nationally and globally and is currently senior wealth advisor at JBWere.

She was previously the assistant relationship manager at Credit Suisse Private Banking in Zurich and has led multi-brand teams at Westpac Group.

Wong is also a member of the diversity, equity and inclusion committee at Stockbrokers and Investment Advisors Association, and the First Nations Peoples’ rights working group at Responsible Investments Association of Australasia.

Experienced barrister Samuel Joyce also joins the board, where his understanding of governance, legal frameworks and stakeholder engagement would be crucial to the board’s decision making.

Joyce has served on the Adelaide Festival Contemporary Arts Club committee.

“Ida and Samuel bring insight, professionalism and a shared belief in the importance of philanthropy for the Museum’s future,” SA Museum Foundation chair Andrew Carmichael said.

Hall Legal and Advisory announces new director

Parkside law firm Hall Legal and Advisory has appointed experienced lawyer Phillip Roberts as a new director.

Roberts has worked across corporate, commercial, mergers and acquisitions, and fundraising, with an expertise in capital raising and equity capital markets.

He previously spent more than 20 years working at Adelaide law firm O’Loughlins Lawyers, where he was the partner in charge of the corporate and equity capital markets team.

Winemaker joins Riverland Wine

Riverland Wine has announced the appointment of Brigid Nolan as new chair and the re-election of Amanda Dimas as chair of Riverland Winegrape Growers Association (RWGA).

Nolan is experienced in corporate and agricultural finance, winemaking, and wine export and supply chain management.

She is the current general manager of The Wine Group where she oversees the company’s operational and financial performance and has a leadership in managing all aspects of the Australian Operations.

Nolan previously worked as a director and winemaker at Riverland Negociants, as well as winemaker and commercial trading manager at Dominic Wines.

Cancer Council SA strengthens board of directors

Cancer Council SA has announced the appointment of Bianca Stawiarski and Amy McLennan to its board of directors.

Stawiarski is a proud Badimia and Ukrainian woman with governance and leadership experience across health, community and social enterprise sectors.

She is the founder and managing director of Warida Wholistic Wellness, an organisation that supports and empowers First Nations People impacted by trauma through First Nations healing practices and is co-founder of First Nations-led charity BilaEmpower.

She is a board director with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia and is a PACFA-registered clinical counsellor and mental health practitioner.

McLennan is a qualified medical anthropologist, social researcher and educator who is focused on improving human health.

As a medical anthropologist, her research on topics including chronic disease, women’s health, medtech and nutrition has been awarded the prestigious Clarendon and John Monash Scholarships.

She is a current associate professor in the ANU College of Systems and Society, where she is developing research focused on chronic illness and system transformation to find new ways to address chronic illness in Australia.

New board appointments for aged care provider

Not-for-profit aged care provider Clayton Church Homes has announced three new board appointments.

Nicolle Rantanen Reynolds has been appointed chair, while Philippa Ewens and Antony Pivato have joined as non-executive directors.

Rantanen Reynolds is the current president of the Grange Golf Club and has served as chair on several boards.

She has a career that spans more than 25 years across finance, superannuation, legal and service delivery functions in both public and private sectors.

Rantanen Reynolds also spent six years as chief executive of the Public Trustee for the Attorney General’s department where she would oversee a $1.5 billion investment portfolio.

Philippa Ewens

Ewens is a practising barrister at Nexus Chambers, with an expertise in public law, commercial law, employment law and professional negligence.

She is also a current board member of Greyhound Racing SA and has served as an advisor for Clayton Church Homes governance committee.

Ewens has also served as a volunteer on the young lawyers’ committee for the Law Society of SA and on the member services committee for the SA Bar Association.

Pivato has executive financial, commercial and corporate experience across aged care, utilities, manufacturing and mining sectors.

He is currently the CEO of United Group Australia and serves as a board member of the Commonwealth Association for the Ageing.
