The Art of Dying

The Art of Dying exhibition returns for its third year in 2025, once again inviting South Australians to reflect on mortality through the transformative power of art. Running from September 22 to October 19 at Centennial Park, this deeply moving exhibition features works by leading local artists across painting, photography, ceramics, and jewellery.

Each piece offers a personal response to death, dying, and the beauty found in life’s impermanence—encouraging open conversation, contemplation, and connection. This year’s private opening event on Sunday, September 21 will feature a special reading by acclaimed poet Mike Ladd.

Presented in partnership with Centennial Park, InReview, and Hentley Farm Wines, the exhibition culminates in the SA Death Festival—an inclusive community event designed to break down stigma around death, grief, and love.

In a spirit of generosity, all participating artists have pledged to donate at least 50% of proceeds from sales. These funds will directly support both the artists and Pure Land Home Hospice, helping to provide free, compassionate end-of-life care throughout South Australia.
