In 2026, the Adelaide Fringe guide is an intimidating 176-pages long. Who has the time? Dear reader, certainly not you. Instead, let comedian Jenny Tian guide you through the festival season, with her must-stop places in Adelaide.

CM: How many times have you performed at the Adelaide Fringe?
This will be my third year doing Adelaide Fringe.

What’s a misconception you had about Adelaide before you came here?
I didn’t know much about Adelaide at all aside from it being the murder capital. I went – still haven’t been murdered! It really is a lovely city and during Fringe season, I love the buzz and summer air.

What’s special about the Fringe compared to other events in Australia?
There’s nothing else like Fringe in the world. The vibes are impeccable. Everything is so walkable, the summer night air feels incredible, and the city really comes alive. You really get to see some of the greatest (and not so greatest) shows in the world. Either way, you’re going to have an experience to remember.

Where do you go for a nice dinner?
I was on The Cook Up with Kane Pollard, and he was telling me about his restaurants in Adelaide. One of them is called Ondeen so I went with a friend to try it and oh my goodness…The combination of flavours blew my mind. If you can make a trip there, Ondeen is phenomenal.

How do you deal with hecklers?
The heckler is usually someone who thinks they’re funnier than me and calls out, expecting the audience to laugh and agree with them. Whatever they yell out inevitably falls on silence and I just go “comedy’s hard isn’t it?”

What other show at the Fringe would you recommend?
Abby Howells is delightful, Alexei Toliopoulos is super charming and if you’re after a line-up show, the Succulent Comedy Showcase is a fantastic pick of Asian comedians.

Jenny Tian – When Life Gives You Oranges is playing at The Garden of Unearthly Delights’ Spiegel Zelt until Sunday, March 22.
