In 2026, the Adelaide Fringe guide is an intimidating 176-pages long. Who has the time? Dear reader, certainly not you. Instead, let social media star Tilly Oddy-Black guide you through the festival season, with her must-stop places in Adelaide.
How many times have you performed at the Adelaide Fringe?
This will be my first time performing a live show, so my first time at Adelaide Fringe. How exciting! I hope they’re gentle.
What’s a misconception you had about Adelaide before you came here?
That Adelaide was boring. It’s got its own nostalgic charm about it, I feel like I’m stuck in 2005 but in a good way.
What’s special about the Fringe compared to other events in Australia?
From what I’ve heard the Fringe Festival is a celebration of the arts and a safe creative space for all. I hope it’s true because that sounds great!
When you’re in Adelaide, where do you like to go for a drink?
I don’t drink but I make up for it with dessert. I like to hunt down the best chewy gooey cookie around me, which I hear could be at ‘Blondies’ in Glenelg.
What about a nice dinner?
Part Time Lover. I’ve been there once and loved it.
How do you deal with hecklers?
It depends on which character I am at that moment. If they did it at the start of the show, they’d be heckling the ‘Feral Niece’ and who would heckle a child! Shame on them.
What other show at the Fringe would you recommend?
Will Gibb’s show! He’s the funniest person I know on and off stage.
Tilly Oddy-Black is performing her show, Tilly Oddy-Black – Tilly Does A Show in The Garden from 16 March – 22 March.
