Responding to Fears SA on Victoria trajectory with debt to hit $48bn in 2029

While I understand the idea may be politically unpopular, I believe there should be serious consideration given to tolling South Road, particularly the new tunnels. Revenue generated from tolls could make a meaningful contribution toward recouping the significant infrastructure costs, helping to reduce public debt or reallocate funds toward other vital infrastructure projects, such as enhancing public transport in the city or improving regional road and rail networks. Beyond the political implications, this approach seems fair; users of the tunnels would contribute directly to their upkeep, while everyday drivers could still benefit through reduced congestion on surface roads as freight and a significant portion of commuter traffic shift to the toll route. It feels like a logical solution. Why hasn’t this idea received more serious attention? – Reece Connor Jaensch

Responding to Long-term senior public servant joins the SA Property Council

While we wish her (Sally) the best, she is not a long-term public servant and should remember those who have helped her in her career past and present. – Kerrieanne Mason

Responding to Adelaide University Vice Chancellor appointed

Who’s the Chancellor? The article only names a Vice-Chancellor and never mentions a Chancellor, and if there is not one, why not?  I don’t understand, but I am an immigrant and perhaps the naming system here is different. – Kelly Wright

Responding to ABC set to axe Q+A after 17 years on air

The ABC showed poor judgment in axing The Drum, which featured good commentary from knowledgeable people with no current politicians on the program. This was an excellent source of information and commentary as is Q+A, except for the standard political party line comment from the inevitable politicians. I’m sure there’s something to say about its ratings, but the comperes were excellent and I seem to remember at the time that many were upset. I was one who commented and I remember many “Bring back the Drum” comments. – Tony Christinson

Responding to Protecting our most vulnerable species and ecosystems

Therein lies the contradiction in our so-called ‘renewable’ energy transition. In a somewhat futile attempt to mitigate one environmental issue (climate change), we risk permanently losing critically endangered habitat and species on a more micro scale. Surely these trade-offs are not worthwhile? – Matt Ferris
