Armed man arrested near Trump’s California golf course
An armed man has been arrested outside Trump National Golf Club in California after officials reported a suspicious person walking the grounds of the property.
Authorities have arrested a man who was walking the grounds and appeared to be monitoring security planning at Donald Trump’s California golf course ahead of the US president’s visit.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the man was taking photos and video and had a 16-round magazine with ammunition in his pocket. They recovered a loaded pistol in his car.
The sheriff’s department announced Sunday’s arrest on Tuesday as Trump was preparing to arrive for a fundraising dinner at his golf club outside of Los Angeles.
The 38-year-old man was arrested for carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.
Law enforcement searched his home and found a plethora of firearms, magazines and ammunition, body armour, and notebooks with “concerning statements.”

The sheriff’s department said there is “no credible threat to our communities.”
This latest arrest followed shots being fired at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC, where Trump was set to give remarks, on April 26.
Trump later said described the alleged shooter as a “pretty sick guy” who had been flagged to law enforcement by family members.
California man Cole Tomas Allen, 31, a tutor and amateur video game developer, was arrested at the scene of the event in Washington DC.
Trump said in TV interviews he had posted an “anti-Christian” manifesto.
