New CFO for SA drugs company
Mayne Pharma Group has appointed Griffin Buchanan as its new chief financial officer starting August 1.
Buchanan is a senior finance executive with more than two decades of experience across global medical technology and healthcare businesses.
He was previously the vice president of finance operations for medical technology company Establishment Labs, where he led financial planning, analysis and operational performance.
Buchanan also spent more than 19 years at leading technology company Siemens Healthineers, where he held several senior finance roles, including as chief financial officer and vice president of finance and enterprise services in North America.
“His experience optimising large, complex healthcare businesses aligns closely with Mayne Pharma’s priorities, and I look forward to working with him on executing our business objectives,” Mayne Pharma CEO Aaron Gray said
Senior appointment at Flinders Port Holdings
Flinders Port Holdings has appointed Nicole Bennett as new group executive of governance, sustainability and general counsel.
In the role, Bennett will serve as company secretary, leading the legal, risk and assurance team, and sustainability and environment team.
Bennett has more than 15 years’ experience in senior leadership and legal roles supporting clients to navigate complex business environments to ensure positive environmental and social outcomes.
She was previously general counsel and head of ESG at environmental services company ResourceCo, where she led the company’s legal function and environmental, social and governance initiatives.

Promotions announcements at WRP Legal
Adelaide-based commercial law firm WRP Legal has announced three senior promotions.
Julia Zisos has been promoted from a senior associate to associate director after first joining the company in 2015 as a law clerk.
Zisos is in the firm’s corporate and commercial team where she advises clients ranging from ASX-listed companies to charities on a broad range of matters including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructures, and shareholder disputes.
She also serves as a board member for the Windmill Theatre Company and men’s mental health charity The Next Step Australia.
Nick McCann has also been promoted from senior associate to associate director after joining the company as an associate in 2018.
McCann is an experienced tax practitioner in corporate, commercial and tax law that has worked with clients including family groups, large companies and not-for-profits on tax planning, and asset transaction matters.
Prior to joining WRP Legal, McCann was a solicitor at Cowell Clarke, a financial accounting and auditing tutor at University of Adelaide and an auditor at Pitcher Partners.
Zachary Moore has been elevated from associate to senior associate after joining as a law clerk in 2021.
Moore graduated in 2022 and was admitted to practise in the Supreme Court of SA and currently works within the firm’s commercial litigation team where he aims to specialise.
Outside of his role at WRP Legal, Moore is a member of the Law Society of South Australia.

Senior appointments at Perks

Accounting and business advisory company Perks has welcomed two new appointments to strengthen its accounting and financial services.
Richard Bowden has joined Perks as its new director in accounting and business services after more than 30 years’ experience advising private and family-owned businesses.
He specialises in structuring, succession planning and delivering practical, commercially grounded client advice.
Bowden was previously the director of tax and business services at Accru Harris Orchard for more than 15 years.
John Rawson has joined the Perks team as a director of tax consulting after more than 25 years’ experience as a chartered accounting working across both public and private markets, supporting businesses in energy and resources, wine, manufacturing and infrastructure, sectors where commercial decisions carry long‑term implications.
He has extensive experience advising clients across a wide range of industries on complex tax matters, including corporate structures and transactions.
Rawson is also the chair of the finance committee for Walford Anglican School for Girls and audit committee chair for Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority.
“These appointments demonstrate our ability to attract experienced practitioners who can add value to our business and, importantly, ensure our clients have access to the depth and breadth of advice they need as their business or personal needs evolve,” Perks CEO James Black said.
Head of partnership at Trees for Life
Habitat restoration company Trees for Life SA has announced Mark Burns as new head of partnerships and growth, starting in mid-August.
Burns has more than 20 years’ professional experience where he has led transformation, commercial strategy and partnerships for major organisations.
He was previously the business development manager for Business Events Adelaide, senior manager for Land Services SA, enterprise development manager at Baptist Care SA and was a sales partner at LJ Hooker for more than 15 years.
In his new role, Burns will assist in growing the company’s support, strengthening and forming new relationships while leading work across fundraising, marketing, and communications.
“Trees for Life’s work in restoring nature, supporting biodiversity and empowering communities is incredibly important, and I look forward to working closely with Jessica McKelson to help Trees for Life flourish,” Burns said.
Board chair appointment at UnitingSA
UnitingSA has appointed John Harvey to take over as board chair from the outgoing Gael Fraser.
Harvey has more than 20 years’ experience in senior board roles, including his current position as chair and non-executive director at headspace.
In his new role, Harvey will be involved in the selection process for UnitingSA’s new CEO and build on the company’s organisational foundations.
Harvey also serves as chair for Stellan Capital, non-executive director for Helping Hand Aged Care, independent chair for Studio Nine Architects and is chair of Foodbank SA and NT.
