ABC Radio Adelaide lost an entire percentage point of listenership overall and also in the crucial breakfast slot in the latest GfK radio data, making room for the new duo at KIIS to climb up a position.

The SA outpost of the national broadcaster has just six per cent of the total listeners surveyed over the period from April 19 to June 27, 2026, placing it last in the local stations lineup.

And the breakfast show, hosted by Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller, was ranked sixth out of seven local stations, garnering 9.4 per cent of the total breakfast listeners, down 1.5 per cent. A blow for the duo who won Best Breakfast Show in the large market category at the Australian Audio Awards this year.

The ABC numbers compare to a whopping 14.8 per cent held by the perennial leaders of the breakfast slot: Triple M’s Roo, Ditts and Loz. The trio have been ranked first for 27 out of the last 28 surveys.

ABC’s slide in popularity meant KIIS’ new duo Ben & Liam climbed up a spot in the breakfast rankings, putting them fourth out of seven breakfast shows with 10.4 per cent of total listenership.

The duo has steadily been climbing up the Adelaide radio ladder after a belated start in April 1 at KIIS following a contract dispute between their new station and their old employer, Nova.

But the KIIS offering overall fell to third spot on the general rankings after losing listeners, with Nova, FIVEAA and Triple M all on the rise, Nova taking second spot and gaining 0.3 per cent more market share.

FIVEAA was the biggest gainer in the period, adding 1.9 per cent more listener share to 10.1 per cent and rising into fourth position overall.

The station’s breakfast duo Will Goodings and David Penberthy also added a significant 2.5 per cent more market share in the period (13.8 per cent in total), putting them in second place and leapfrogging Nova’s Jodie Oddy and Andrew Hayes (11 per cent). It will be interesting to see what happens next round with Penberthy on an overseas sabbatical and Stacey Lee currently filling the seat alongside Goodings.

Stay informed, daily

As is usually the case, Triple M’s breakfast lead gives it a solid head start throughout the remainder of the weekdays. The morning show has 16.3 per cent of total listeners, with KIIS in second place but at 11.2 per cent of market share.

Triple M also dominates in the afternoon slot (16.8 per cent) and drive (14.9 per cent).

But it is FIVEAA that has the evenings locked down, boasting 18 per cent of total listenership. Only one other station has market share in the double digits for the evenings: Nova.
