A woman has died after being struck by a car in an alleged weekend attack on strangers.

A 24-year-old woman and others were struck by a car on the weekend after a male driver allegedly mounted the kerb in an apparent road rage attack, following what was described as a minor altercation with bystanders.
Police and emergency services were called to Aerodrome Road in Maroochydore on Saturday night, following reports a white Toyota Yaris had struck a group of eight pedestrians on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
The woman has now died and three others, two 18-year-old men and a 19-year-old man, were taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
She had been visiting family in Queensland from her home in NSW, and died of her injuries on Monday night.
The driver, 38-year-old Guilherme Dal Bo, allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle following the crash. He was located by police at an Alexandra Parade address a short time later and taken into custody.
He was remanded in custody on eight charges of attempted murder after appearing at Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, pending one of those charges being upgraded.
Police have alleged he got involved in a verbal exchange with a group of men at a pedestrian crossing.
Dal Bo is then alleged to have driven on before circling back and mounting the kerb, hitting two women and six men head-on.
Police said the women and men did not know each other and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Investigations continue, and anyone with information that could assist is urged to contact police.
Dal Bo will next appear in court on Friday.
