A mum is pleading for answers and praying her 17-year-old daughter comes home as police continue the search a week after her suspicious disappearance.
Pheobe Bishop was last seen near Bundaberg airport in southern Queensland about 8.30am on May 15 after booking a trip to Western Australia, police said.
She has not been seen or heard from since. CCTV footage shows she never entered the airport.
Bishop’s mother, Kylie Johnson, has launched another plea on social media for any information about her daughter.
“Phee, we love you more than you could imagine and we’re praying that you come home,” she posted on Facebook.
The teen’s disappearance has been deemed suspicious as police probe the out-of-character incident.
“We do hold concerns for her safety,” Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson said on Wednesday.
“It has been nearly a week since she was last sighted and it’s out of character for her not to make any contact with anyone.”
Police have declared two crime scenes at a property in Gin Gin, where Bishop was last known to be living with two other people, and a Hyundai ix35 believed to be the car she travelled to Airport Drive in.
The vehicle has been seized by police, who believe it belongs to a resident of the property.
Thompson suspected Bishop was dropped at the airport by the people she was living with, who had been spoken to by police.
Police have appealed for dashcam or CCTV footage of the vehicle – Queensland registration 414EW3 – near the airport or in the Gin Gin area on Thursday.
They remain hopeful Bishop is still alive as the investigation combs through her last movements.
“Just because we are deeming this suspicious doesn’t mean … anything sinister has happened,” Thompson said.
Bishop is about 180 centimetres tall with a pale complexion, long hair that’s dyed red, and hazel eyes.
She was last seen carrying luggage, wearing a green tank top and grey sweatpants.
