Amid a quiet week on the bourse, an SA tech company caught the attention of the Stock Exchange after its shares went on a tear.

Shares in X-ray technology developer Micro-X spiked by 150 per cent over the course of last week, with the company’s market cap rising above $30 million.

This was despite the firm not making any major announcements in the week.

It led to the Australian Stock Exchange issuing a ‘please explain’ notice to the company, asking if there was anything that could rationalise the increased interest in the business.

“No,” was the response from Micro-X.

“The recent increase in the company’s share price has seen the share price return to levels last seen in June 2026,” Micro-X said.

It was otherwise a quiet – and rocky – week for South Australia’s listed companies.

A resurgence in crude oil prices drove inflation concerns, prompting fears the Reserve Bank will hike interest rates again this week.

It was the fourth consecutive losing week for the ASX 200 too – the longest weekly losing steak since November last year.

Of the companies tracked by this column, 27 were lower over the trading week while only 24 rose.
