HLB Mann Judd appoints new managing partner
Accounting and advisory firm HLB Mann Judd has appointed Corey McGowan as its new managing partner.
McGowan has 19 years of experience at the company and will succeed James Hooper, who held the role of managing partner for 13 years.
He was previously head of the audit and assurance division in SA where he was responsible for providing audit services to ASX-listed companies, public and private companies, not-for-profit organisations, and state and local government.
McGowan has experience serving on several not-for-profit boards, is an independent member of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network and is a member of the HLB Mann Judd Australasian audit committee.
“It’s a privilege to take on the role of managing partner and to lead a firm with such a strong history and reputation in South Australia,” McGowan said.
CEO to join Chalk Hill winery
McLaren Vale winery Chalk Hill has appointed international wine executive Trent Fraser as its new CEO.
Fraser has more than two decades of experience at some of the world’s most prestigious wine and luxury brands, including as vice president for Champagne producer Dom Perignon.

Prior to joining Chalk Hill, Fraser was CEO of Top Shelf International, which produced Australian-made whisky and other alcoholic beverages.
Fraser spent more than 13 years at Moët Hennessy, the wines and spirits division of the world’s largest luxury goods company LVMH, where he held various roles including CEO of Volcan De Mi Tierra Tequila.
“I am so excited to have the opportunity to help shape the next chapter at Chalk Hill Wines, to build on its exceptional vineyards, award-winning wines and spectacular destination,” Fraser said.
Scouts SA appoints new CEO
Scouts SA has announced the appointment of Carrie Williamson as its new CEO.
Williamson has more than 20 years’ experience in senior finance roles specialising in management, financial reporting, and budgeting, including as Scouts SA’s chief financial officer for the past four years.
Prior to joining Scouts SA, Williamson was the senior finance leader at renewable energy and telecommunications service provider Enerven, where she was tasked with delivering growth, supporting future initiatives and executing company-wide finance projects.
She has also held several senior roles at RAA, including group finance manager and was a senior accountant of financial assurance at PwC.
“The Board has enormous confidence in Carrie and believes she is exceptionally well placed to lead Scouts SA into what is a very exciting next chapter for our movement,” Scouts SA president Brenton Scroop said.

Perks finance senior appointment
Perks has appointed Shamus Rynne as director at Perks Finance to strengthen the firm’s specialist finance brokerage business.
Rynne has more than 25 years’ experience in commercial banking spanning relationship management, commercial lending, and complex credit structuring.

He was previously relationship director at Westpac, where he was responsible for client acquisition and business development before joining Perks.
Rynne was also senior business banking manager at NAB for more than eight years and was commercial executive at Commonwealth Bank.
“Shamus’ appointment reflects our ongoing investment in Perks Finance and will help us continue building on the strong reputation and capability of the business as part of the broader Perks Group,” Perks CEO James Black said.
Senior appointment at Adelaide Festival
Kevin van der Zwaag has been appointed as head of marketing and communications at Adelaide Festival.
van der Zwaag has more than 15 years’ experience in the arts, events and live music sectors, including as marketing manager for world music festival WOMADelaide.
He has previously held roles including marketing coordinator and program manager at Adelaide Fringe, digital marketing and content manager at Arts Projects Australia, and serves as a current board member at Music SA.
In the new role, van der Zwaag will be responsible for shaping and delivering the festival’s strategic marketing, PR and comms strategy, nationally and internationally.
“Adelaide Festival not only plays a key role supporting our local communities and showcasing South Australia to the world, but it also provides a platform for so many incredible artistic experiences that Australian audiences would otherwise not get a chance to discover,” van der Zwaag said.
Board appointments at Eyre Peninsula LGA
The Eyre Peninsula Local Government Association (EPLGA) has announced two senior board reappointments.
District Council of Kimba Mayor Dean Johnson has been re-elected as board president, and Lower Eyre Council Mayor Jo-Anne Quigley as vice president.
Johnson has more than 20 years’ experience in the local government sector, including the role of Kimba Mayor, which he has held since 2014.
He is a director of the Australian Local Government Association and immediate past president and director of the LGA of SA and will be one of four regional mayors contesting the LGA SA presidency this year, which is set to be held in November.
Johnson was also formerly the president of the Northern Eyre Peninsula Health Alliance, where he has advocated for regional voices to be heard in Adelaide and Canberra.
Quigley has been Mayor of the Lower Eyre Council since 2018, where she has supported community services throughout the Eyre Peninsula.
She is chair of the SA Regional Organisation of Councils (SAROC), chair of the Local Government Transport Advisory Panel, and is an LGA SA board director.
Prior to this, Quigley served as general manager at Lower Eyre Family Practice, encompassing clinical practice administration and healthcare operations.
