Top Barossa wineries crowned at annual awards
Some of Barossa Valley’s best wines and wineries have taken out major trophies at the 2026 Marananga Wine Show.
The 23rd Marananga Wine Show highlighted the exceptional wines of the Barossa’s Western Ridge, as well as its resilience, strength and community spirit.
This year’s awards featured nine new exhibitors, with 127 wines entered from 42 exhibitors, an increase from 38 exhibitors in the previous year.
“The wine industry is going through extremely challenging times, and it is events like these that bring our community together,” Marananga chairperson Sam Pfeiffer said.

Major hotel development breaks ground
Construction has officially commenced on an 87-room Quest apartment hotel in Elizabeth.
The new property on the corner of Main North Road and Prince Charles Street will comprise standalone studios and two-bedroom twin-key apartments and is expected to open in March 2028.
It will also feature three disability compliant guest rooms in response to growing demand for accessible accommodation, alongside conference facilities, a restaurant and a gym.
“Quest’s presence will contribute to the continued growth of a thriving and vibrant Elizabeth CBD and further strengthen the city’s appeal as a destination for visitors, businesses and the local community,” Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said.
Record revenue for AML3D
Adelaide-based 3D metal printing company AML3D has delivered a record annual revenue last financial year.
The revenue of $12.5 million increased by 70 per cent, driven by growing demand for AML3D’s ARCEMY metal 3D printing technology within the US Defence sector, particularly the US Navy’s Maritime Industrial Base.
AML3D’s order book peaked at $29 million during the year, including $20 million of new orders and $9 million of orders carried forward from the prior year.

“It is encouraging to see our strategy of moving beyond the US Defence market begin to gain traction. During the year, we achieved record revenue growth and delivered our first profitable half-year in the second six months,” AML3D managing director Sean Ebert said.
CBD property hits market
An Adelaide CBD office building held by the same owner for more than three decades is being brought to market.
The office building, located at 76 Waymouth Street, is currently 57.4 per cent occupied.
Cushman and Wakefield director of investment sales SA Anton Williams said there was a growing demand for office assets in the CBD.
“We expect interest from private investors, family offices, syndicators and value-add groups that are comfortable implementing an active leasing and refurbishment strategy,” he said.
Disability grants on offer
A new round of disability inclusion grants that help improve the lives of South Australians living with a disability is now open.
The Julia Farr Disability Inclusion Grants are funded through the Home for the Incurables Trust to support community-led initiatives that increase participation and help build stronger, more inclusive communities across the state.
Up to $20,000 in grants are available for projects delivered over 12 months, while up to $100,000 is on offer for larger initiatives delivered over 24 months.
“We want people with disability to be supported and empowered to participate in our community,” Human Services Minister Katrine Hildyard said.
“These grants are about doing just that. They exist to improve lives, open doors, break down barriers and strengthen participation and inclusion across South Australia.”
Export program gets funding boost
The state government has invested a further $1.8 million into SA Business Chamber’s Growth Accelerator Program over the next four years to assist local businesses in growing globally.
The program provides business advisory services, including growth and export planning, mentoring, networking, and workshops to develop export strategies to assist small businesses in driving sustainable international growth.
“The Growth Accelerator Program provides us with a platform to connect these businesses with experienced mentors who have run similar programs and helped others scale and embark on international growth,” SA Business Chamber CEO Andrew Kay said.
SA strengthens South Korean business ties
More than 250 delegates attended the 47th annual Australia-Korea Business Council (AKBC) and Korea-Australia Business Council (KABC) Joint Meeting in Adelaide.
The two-day event saw senior business leaders, government representatives, and industry stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration, investment, and partnership across the two economies.
The forum was held in SA for the first time since its inception in 1978 and showcased the state’s strengths and promoted South Australia as a destination for Korean investment and business engagement.
Attendees include senior business representatives from major Korean companies including POSCO Group, Hyundai Engineering and Construction, Samsung Construction and Trading.
“South Australia’s relationship with South Korea is important for our long-term trade and investment goals. It is built upon shared strategic interests, complementary economies and strong connections,” State Development Minister Chris Picton said.
