Multimillion-dollar dialysis unit to open in northern suburbs
Northern suburbs residents will soon have access to life-saving kidney disease treatment through the new $12 million renal haemodialysis unit at the Playford Health Hub.
The Playford Satellite Dialysis Unit will feature 30 chairs and is expected to reduce the need for many patients in the northern suburbs to travel long distances several times a week for treatment.
Once fully operational, up to 120 people will be able to receive treatment at the unit each week to help meet the growing demand for renal services across the region.
“This is a significant investment in the future of kidney care, increasing capacity and giving more patients access to life-changing treatment in a purpose-built facility,” Health Minister Blair Boyer said.
SA battery manufacturer partners with South Korean company
SA battery technology business 1414 Degrees has signed a letter of intent with South Korean battery electrode and cell manufacturer.

Under the deal, 1414 Degrees will jointly develop electrodes and battery cells with South Korea’s JR Energy Solution incorporating 14D’s SiNTL silicon anode material.
The collaboration is expected to expand 1414 Degrees’ manufacturing options as SiNTL progresses toward commercialisation and provide access to third-party electrode and cell development capability.
“We already have pathways into UAV, defence and space markets. Access to versatile electrode and cell manufacturing capability in South Korea gives us another option to support those programs and scale production as demand develops,” 1414 Degrees chief technology and operations officer Dr Peter N. Yaron said.
Bay to Birdwood unveils new festival
The RAA Bay to Birdwood will unveil a new Finish Festival at this year’s event with a 30-metre-long drive-on stage for award winners and their vehicles to share the spotlight for the first time.
Winners of the Concours d’Elegance Award, Preservation Award and EV Conversion Award will drive onto a new stage to be celebrated in front of thousands of spectators.
This year more than 1,500 vehicles – spanning the early 1900s through to 1996 – will travel a 67-kilometre route from West Beach to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood.
“Very rarely do owners get the chance to present their vehicle on stage in front of thousands of other enthusiasts from across Australia, and our drive-on stage is going to be a real highlight of this year’s event,” RAA Bay to Birdwood event manager Dane Wilden said.
Affordable living apartments set for Kidman Park

South Australian developer Fairland has announced the launch of its first apartment project which will bring to market 38 architecturally-designed affordable residences at Kidman Park.
The Canopy Apartments will feature one and two-bedroom units that are aimed at supporting greater housing choice and providing an accessible entry point for first homebuyers.
It will be located in close proximity to the currently under construction St James’ commercial precinct, which will include food retail, childcare, healthcare services and other neighbourhood amenities.
“We’re really excited about this project as it not only marks a significant moment for our company but also reflects how St James is evolving as a community providing housing options that respond to the needs of a diverse range of buyers,” St James project director Aleck Whitham said.
Eastern suburbs radiology clinic opens
A new radiology clinic has opened at Eastwood Private Hospital, marking an important expansion of diagnostic imaging services in SA.
The clinic, operated by Fowler Simmons Radiology, has been designed to provide an increase in access to high-quality diagnostic imaging to support patients and healthcare professionals across Adelaide.
The clinic was opened by the Health and Wellbeing Minister Blair Boyer alongside Fowler Simmons Radiology SA state manager John Nisyrios, who said the opening marked an exciting chapter.
“We are proud to expand our presence at Eastwood Private Hospital and further strengthen the diagnostic imaging services available to South Australians,” he said.
Magill home wins top building prize
A five-bedroom luxury home in Magill has been named the Best Display Home at the 2026 Master Builders SA Building Excellence Awards.
Spanning two levels, the Artisan 55 features five bedrooms, each with a walk-in wardrobe and private ensuite, along with two powder rooms, three separate living areas and a generous outdoor entertaining space.
“We are incredibly proud that the Artisan 55 has been recognised as one of South Australia’s best display homes,” Metricon SA general manager Neil Bisset said.
