Burnside Village has taken home the title of Lifestyle Mall of the Year – Australia at the 2026 Retail Asia Awards in Singapore.
The award recognises destinations that bring together retail, dining and lifestyle offerings in a distinctive way.
The award follows Burnside Village’s multimillion-dollar redevelopment and reopening in May 2025, which introduced 80 new stores across the three levels.
“This international award honour is a meaningful endorsement of the Cohen Group’s long-term vision for Burnside Village and of the care taken to curate a destination that brings together luxury and premium retail, dining and lifestyle in a way that feels both relevant and enduring,” Cohen Group CEO Gregg Downer.
South Australian uranium firm Orpheus Uranium has bought seven exploration licences from Adavale Resources Limited, covering more than 2000 sqkms.
The purchase “significantly” expanded Orpheus’ uranium landholding, and consolidated a district-scale uranium position along the western margin of the Northern Flinders Ranges.
Orpheus managing director Clinton Dubieniecki said the deal was “a strong strategic fit for Orpheus, expanding our position in one of South Australia’s most prospective uranium regions”.
Kangaroo Island Spirits has been awarded a gold medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London for its Single Malt Whisky – Tawny Cask.
The whisky has been maturing in barrels for more than four years and is made entirely on Kangaroo Island from locally grown barley and rainwater collected from the island.
The Single Malt Whisky was one of seven awards for the distillery, taking home silver medals for its Old Tom Gin, Whisky Barrel Aged Gin, O’Gin, and bronze medals for the Apera Cask Single Malt Whisky, Wild Gin, and Bourbon Cask Whisky.
“The fact that our first whisky has now been recognised internationally is very encouraging because it reinforces our beliefs on what’s important when making whisky,” head distiller Charlie Schmidt said.
Unity Housing and YourPlace Housing has merged under the Unity Housing name to establish a dedicated specialist disability housing program.
The specialist disability housing program will provide tailored support for South Australians living with disabilities and is expected to increase Unity Housing’s footprint to 3700 homes.
The merger has also seen former YourPlace tenants, and almost all employees who elected to transfer, moved across to Unity Housing.
“The merger will enable us to deliver more housing choice, tailored support and better long-term outcomes for tenants living with disability, backed by the scale, expertise and capacity of a larger organisation,” Unity Housing CEO Matthew Woodward said.

Whyalla Visitor Centre has been named the winner of the Excellence in Customer Experience Delivery Award at the Local Government Professionals SA 25th Annual Leadership Excellence Awards.
The statewide award recognises outstanding achievements and innovations that contribute to the advancement and improvement of the local government sector.
The Visitor Centre, which is operated by Whyalla City Council, was acknowledged for providing a dynamic and experience-led tourism service, strong customer service and increased sales and partnerships.
“We have worked hard to transform the visitor experience by creating genuine connections, delivering personalised service and evolving how we engage with visitors,” Whyalla Council events and tourism coordinator Jenny Barnes said.
Select Harvests, which grows almonds in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales, achieved a record almond crop of 29,500MT in the first half of the financial year.
Net profit after tax also rose by 32.9 per cent to $26.6 million, with the company noting the global economic environment was positive for almonds.
Demand and supply conditions continued to support a favourable pricing outlook for the market, Select Harvests said.
“Select Harvests continues to make progress against its strategy which provides leverage to the positive almond macroeconomic conditions,” managing director David Surveyor said.
Adelaide-based exploration company Barton Gold has raised $25.5 million from global investors as it presses ahead with its pre-mining activities.
Institutional investors Franklin Templeton, Aegis Financial, IXIOS and MERK joined the capital raise which was completed via the placement of 30 million new shares.
Managing director Alexander Scanlon said he was “honoured to have the support of our institutional partners as we pursue our vision to build South Australia’s largest independent gold producer”.
Australian-made camper trailer business Offline Campers is boosting manufacturing and job growth in its Lionsgate showroom following renovations.
The new Offline Campers manufacturing site, located at the former home of Holden, has been renovated and refurbished to quadruple its floorspace and showroom.
The business will now be able to manufacture camper trailers across more than 4500 sqm of floorspace and be built by more than 40 employees.
“It’s great to see the South Australian family-owned company backing local suppliers and products to create high quality campers that are in demand across the nation,” State Development Minister Chris Picton said.
