‘Gave us the confidence to keep building’: The Fast Movers effect
For six years in a row, a South Australian facilities management business has been emboldened by participating in BDO’s Fast Movers initiative. This year, Travis Guerin is gunning for a higher place in the rankings, to be revealed on May 1.
It was 2021 when Travis Guerin first threw his hat in the ring for BDO’s Fast Movers initiative.
The program, which celebrates growing South Australian companies and ranks them too, has emboldened Guerin to continue growing his facilities management business, which recently bolted on a new electrical division.
On May 1, BDO will reveal the rankings of the top 25 fastest-growing companies in South Australia.
This will include Guerins’ Need Trade Services, which is a finalist in the 2026 edition. Last year, his company landed in 17th place.
Founded in 2017, Need Trade Services is a facilities management business that offers clients a variety of services from carpentry to electrical and plumbing to painting.

“When we first entered in 2021, we were just testing the waters to see where we measure against other South Australian businesses,” Guerin said.
“The first time we entered, I didn’t think we would have a hope. To find out that we did rank was pretty impressive.
“It’s given us the confidence to keep building and keep growing.”
He also said being part of the initiative was great for staff morale too: “a bit of a reward for their hard work”.
“You never know what opportunities are going to come from having your name listed. Relationships are key to growing your business, and being in the room and meeting other people is a positive thing.”
He said Need Trade Services consistently landed in the top 25 because it was meeting a real gap in the market.
“In general, tradies and trade businesses don’t communicate that well,” he said.
“We’ve tried to make that our point of difference, that we do communicate every step of the way.
“We’re only just getting started, that’s how we feel around our growth. Now we’ve got the recipe right, it’s about strategy and execution of where we want to go.”
BDO Adelaide managing partner Rudy Pieck said “Fast Movers gives growing South Australian businesses the confidence to back themselves”.
“Seeing companies like Need Trade Services return year after year is exactly what the initiative is designed to do,” he said.
