Health department chief set to retire

The chief executive for the Department for Health and Wellbeing Dr Robyn Lawrence is set to retire in October.

In the role, Lawrence was responsible for strengthening the state’s health system by adding more than 4,000 nurses, doctors and paramedics over the past four years.

She has 15 years’ experience in senior executive health care roles across SA and Western Australia, including roles as deputy chief health officer and COVID-19 incident controller for WA Department of Health.

Lawrence also has served as chief executive for multiple WA health organisations including South Metropolitan Health Service, Child and Adolescent Health Service and north Metropolitan Health Service.

“The Chief Executive of the Health Department is a complex role to take on, with many challenges, and she has led the sector with composure, confidence and a level-head,” Premier Peter Malinauskas said.

Malinauskas said a nation-wide search would not get underway for a replacement.

New CEO to lead superannuation firm

Joshua Williams has been promoted to the role of CEO at chartered accounting firm SuperGuardian.

Williams has served at SuperGuardian for almost 15 years in multiple senior management roles including as chief operating officer and accounting manager.

He is known for his high-level administration, accounting and technical advice for trustees of self-managed superannuation funds and his contribution to many industry events.

Williams also has been involved in several committee and board roles including as treasurer of Heritage College Adelaide and a director for One Thousand Hills.

“I am very grateful to the Board, and the entire team for their continued support over the many years we have shared so far,” Williams said.

Port Lincoln Airport appoints its inaugural CEO

Experienced airport manager Jennifer May has been appointed to lead Port Lincoln Airport as its first CEO.

May will relocate to the Lower Eyre Peninsula after serving as manager of airport services for the City of Busselton since 2011.

During her tenure at the City of Busselton, May had a key leadership role in the delivery and growth of Busselton Margaret River Airport which is now one of regional Australia’s fastest-growing airports.

As the new CEO, May will lead day-to-day operations, airline relationships and tourism development of Port Lincoln Airport which sees 24 daily passenger flights and 170,000 annual passengers.

“She brings a depth of experience in day-to-day operations, airline relationships, and tourism development that will be invaluable from day one. We are so excited that Jenny is joining us,” Port Lincoln Airport Management Authority chair Jodi Glass said.

Maggie Beer Holdings names interim CEO

Maggie Beer Holdings has announced the appointment of Craig Ware as its interim CFO as of April 22.

Ware is an experienced financial leader with more than 20 years’ experience senior roles across multiple ASX-listed companies including finance director of brand and communications for Optus.

He has held the role of group financial controller at Maggie Beer since 2024, where he was responsible for financial control, consolidations, external audit process management and providing commercial insight to support board decision-making.

Ware was also the general manager of finance for Thorn Financial Group, where he was responsible for performing core finance functions including financial control, monthly reporting and cashflow management.

The appointment is being made on an interim basis while the company continues a previously announced  strategic  review  of  its  Hampers  and  Gifts  Australia  business.

A credible executive experienced in leading complex, purpose‑led organisations with the judgement to influence across government, community safety and volunteer networks is sought.

Executive Manager Operations for Carers SA, a long‑established not‑for‑profit delivering statewide services supporting unpaid carers through assessment, counselling, coaching, peer support, emergency respite and tailored programs. Reporting to the CEO, the role leads operational performance and service quality across significant direct delivery and partner‑led programs, including the Australian Government’s Carer Gateway in South Australia. The position will suit a senior human services leader with strong operational planning experience across complex service portfolios.

 

SA Produce Market unveils new leader

Experienced executive Andrew Myers has been appointed as the new CEO of South Australian Produce Market Limited (SAPML).

In the new role, Myers will be responsible for managing SAPML’s $600 million in fresh produce trading and oversee more than 100 businesses at the central fruit and vegetable trading hub.

Myers has held several senior leadership roles including as chief convenience officer for United Petroleum where he was responsible for supply chain, marketing procurement and supplier relations.

He was also general manager of central operations for Coles Group and has served on the board of directors for Target Australia and WorkJam.

“He has worked with some of the world’s largest and most recognised organisations, and his deep understanding of complex operating environments makes him exceptionally well placed to lead the Market forward,” SAPML chair Joanna Andrew said.

Solstice Media has made two major appointments to support its One Solstice Network growth strategy.

Stuart Pool

Stuart Pool has been promoted to the national role of head of digital and partnerships, where he will oversee all commercial activity for the InDaily brands in addition to The Weekend Edition, CityMag, The Post, and The Southern Cross.

During his time at Solstice Media, Pool has been responsible for overseeing commercial and product development, leading commercial content, events, business partnerships and digital audience growth.

Pool also spent 16 years at News Corp Australia where he held a series of senior sales leadership roles to drive revenue growth across print, digital, magazine and marketing.

Shelley Gilson has been promoted to head of ad operations after more than three years as product and programmatic lead for Solstice Media.

In the role, Gilson will oversee all advertising operations across the business and be responsible for Solstice’s programmatic activity.

Gilson has extensive operational experience in digital media and specialises in digital advertising operations with an expertise in streamlining ad operation processes.

Prior to her role at Solstice, Gilson was senior digital operations specialist at HT Ad Ops where she led project management efforts to execute ap operation initiatives.

General manager to lead naval combat system delivery

Saab Australia has appointed Mark Wallis as general manager of Systems Delivery Group after two years as head of combat systems engineering.

Wallis has more than 20 years of experience in the defence industry where he has provided leadership in private sector engineering and established a strong reputation with defence and Commonwealth stakeholders.

In the new role, Wallis will lead Saab’s naval combat systems capability delivery and assist the company’s role as sovereign Australian Combat Management System provider for the Royal Australian Navy.

He has also spent more than 11 years at defence and space manufacturer Raytheon as the principal maritime engineer and AWD combat system chief engineer.

“Mark’s appointment provides leadership continuity and ensures we remain focused on delivering complex, sovereign combat systems capability to the Royal Australian Navy at a time of sustained operational demand,” Saab Australia managing director Andy Keough said.

State manager appointed to Rabobank

Agribusiness and farming bank Rabobank has appointed Peter Evans as the state manager for South Australia and the Northern Territory.

In the new role, Evans will lead Rabobank’s rural banking operations across South Australia, the Northern Territory and have responsibility for its business in north-west Victoria.

Evans has worked at Rabobank for more than 20 years in a variety of roles, most recently as head of relationship management for the company’s Victorian and Tasmanian team.

He has experience in a range of farming regions across Australia including dryland farming in WA’s Great Southern region and would now lead Rabobank’s operations in “the nation’s most dynamic agricultural regions”.

“Peter has a deep knowledge of agriculture, as well as a strong understanding of the banking and financial requirements of agricultural producers,” Rabobank group executive for Country Banking Australia Marcel van Doremaele said.

International music curator joins Adelaide City of Music

Adelaide City of Music has welcomed international music curator Stuart Rogers to its board of directors.

Throughout his career, Rogers has programmed major festivals both nationally and internationally including the Sydney Festival, FreshGrass in USA, and Punkt in Norway.

He has curated performances by Paul Kelly, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey and Herbie Hancock among others, and worked on Cannes award winning director Pierre-Alain Giraud’s music documentary Everything Everywhere All the Time.

Rogers has also DJed at Sundance after parties for Mick Jagger and Jodie Foster, and Tribeca Festival after parties for Robert De Niro

“Stuart’s experience and perspective will be a valuable addition to the ACOM Board as we continue to support and grow South Australia’s music ecosystem,” Adelaide City of Music general manager Joe Hay said.
