Eat a schnitty in May for the Sammy D Foundation

This week marks 17 years since 17-year-old Sam Davis lost his life to a one-hit coward punch. You can help the Sammy D Foundation to end violence by eating a schnitty this May.

A fiercely loyal young man, Sam Davis had an ability to form wonderful friendships. He showed integrity and held strong values, often defending those who were being bullied and always treated others with the greatest of respect.

Following Sam’s death, his parents Nat Cook and Neil Davis formed the Sammy D Foundation, with a view that no family would ever need to go through what theirs did.

Since 2008, the Sammy D Foundation has spread Sam’s message across hundreds of schools, community groups and sporting clubs, raising awareness and educating over 300,000 young people about the consequences of violent behaviour and the risks associated with alcohol and drug use.

One of Sam’s final acts was sharing a schnitty with his mates, and throughout the month of May, Sammy D Foundation celebrates Sam’s life with Schnitty4Sam.

The fundraiser is supported by Drakes Supermarket, while hundreds of venues across Australia are also donating money from each schnitty sold. There is also the option to purchase a Virtual Schnitzel, with each one providing access to the program for one young person.

By providing relevant age-appropriate information, knowledge and tools, the Sammy D Foundation empowers young people to make positive life decisions for a better community.

This is made possible by the Foundation’s generous donors and supporters of events, such as the upcoming Reach for the Stars Black & White Ball.

Previous balls have each raised more than $200,000, delivering vital funds enabling the Sammy D Foundation to provide programs and reach the students who most need to hear this message.

A lighthearted evening of entertainment and fundraising

This year’s Reach for the Stars Black & White Ball will be held on 31 May at Adelaide Oval, with entertainment from Adelaide’s own Libby O’Donovan, special guest stars and dance floor favourites The Cast.

The winning ticket in the Kia Picanto Sport Car Raffle will also be drawn on the night, and with only 3500 tickets available, the odds of winning are high.

Purchase tickets to the ball here.
