The top tourism operators in South Australia were lauded at the 2024 South Australian Tourism Awards Gala Dinner.
Hosted by the Tourism Industry Council of South Australia, the 2024 SA Tourism Awards recognised tourism businesses, of which more than half were small and medium-sized enterprises.
Accolades were awarded across 30 categories celebrating different parts of the sector including festivals, events, ecotourism, business events, transport operators, adventure tourism and more.
Monarto Safari Park picked up the Major Tourist Attraction award, Adelaide Festival won the major festival and event accolade, and the ecotourism trophy went to The Big Duck Boat Tours.
The People’s Choice Awards, voted by the public, were awarded to Monarto Safari Park for Tourism Experiences/Services and BIG4 West Beach Parks for Accommodation.
Aboriginal-owned and operated Kool Tours joined the prestigious Hall of Fame on the night, recognising its long-standing contribution to the industry.
The SA winners will go onto represent the state at the Australian Tourism Awards, to be held in Adelaide in March 2025.
Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison congratulated the winners.
“All tourism operators in South Australia work incredibly hard to deliver exceptional tourism products making our state a must-visit destination for all types of travellers from all over the world,” she said.
“In a testament to our industry’s commitment to delivering tourism for good, almost all the award winners are Quality & Sustainable Tourism Accredited – which we know is what potential visitors are looking for when deciding on where to spend their time and money.”
Tourism Industry Council South Australia CEO Shaun de Bruyn said the winners represented “the spirit and commitment that makes our state an incredible destination”.
“From small family enterprises to large corporations, the focus by the people driving these businesses on delivering outstanding visitor experiences and upholding high standards as responsible tourism operators, is truly inspiring,” he said.
“South Australia’s tourism industry continues to grow, evolve, and set new benchmarks for excellence on both a national and international scale.”
