The Adelaide Festival Centre has partnered with Flinders University to provide a variety of projects to support students, artists and wider industries to enhance the state’s cultural and educational landscape.
In November an international arts and culture symposium will be held at the university, and next year it will offer a six-day intensive subject on festivals, exploring management and arts programming.
Flinders students will also get work experience placements in production, programming, marketing and hospitality.
“The collaboration between the arts and education sectors brings a multitude of benefits to the wider community, and as such, Adelaide Festival Centre supports students across all stages of learning,” Adelaide Festival Centre CEO and artistic director Douglas Gautier said.

Five South Australian businesses have been awarded at the Telstra Best of Business Awards, out of over 22,000 nominations.
Barossa Veterinary Service, owned by InDaily 40 Under 40 alumnus Catherine Harper, was recognised alongside Adelaide Mums and Babies Clinic, Bellberry, MAC Trade Services, Rainy Day Recruitment and MyVenue. All five will now represent the state nationally in November.
“To be recognised as a state winner in the Telstra Best of Business Awards is an incredible accomplishment, and we hope this provides these businesses with the recognition they deserve, and a moment to shine the spotlight on their significant work for their communities,” said Telstra Business group executive Amanda Hutton.

Inovor Technologies and Neumann Space have announced a partnership to develop the Neumann Drive, “an electric propulsion system based on solid metal propellants”.
The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalise their intention to build on the successful demonstration of the Neumann Drive on the SpIRIT nanosatellite which is hosted on an Inovor platform.
The project is led by the University of Melbourne and supported by the Australian Space Agency’s International Space Investment.
“We are now excited to become a key supplier for Inovor Technologies and look forward to offering the electric propulsion capability they need for their platform and do what we can to contribute to their success,” Neumann Space CEO Herve Astier said.

South Australia’s leading private executive education funder, the Industry Leaders Fund (ILF), has announced 14 grant recipients that it will support in gaining education at institutions including Harvard, Oxford and Stanford.
The ILF has given 283 grants since 2010, worth more than $3.6 million and leading to 4000 high-value jobs being created in the state.
The 2024 recipients are InDaily 40 Under 40 alumnus Tom Glazbrook of MTE, Herve Astier of Neumann Space, Tom Rayner of Kelly Tillage, Sarah Marquis of Mollydooker Wines, Stacey Satchell of Lumination, Shuan Westcott of Mitsubishi Motors Australia, Clayton Wehner of ASC, Hannah Dabinett of Longtrail Farms, Cameron Wells of Data Sagacity, and Erik Bosch of S-I-G Group.
Special award recipients were Jodie Hawkes of Bowhill Engineering, Glenn Morelli of Tindo Solar, Robert Stathan of Bespoke Manufacturing Group, and InDaily 40 Under 40 alumnus Binh An Nguyen of Market Ease Digital.

Aerometrex was awarded a contract from the Department for Environment and Water to create a 3D reality mesh project for sand analysis around the Adelaide coastline.
The contract, worth up to $680,000, will see Aerometrex create 3D models and derivative products, capturing imagery and enabling predictive coastline analysis.
“This is an important project that shows the value of high-resolution 3D reality mesh in environmental management of coastal protection,” Aerometrex managing director Steve Masters said.
“It builds on the successful completion of a coastal capture pilot project for DEW’s Coast Protection Branch in January 2024.”

Adelaide Hills cheese producer Udder Delights is celebrating its 25th year on October 25. The company produces 800,000 kilograms of cheese with seven million litres of milk annually.
General manager of marketing and sales Phil Donnellan said the business was “thrilled and excited to be reaching this milestone while continuing to grow our team and practice handmaking our beloved, quality cheeses in the Hills”.
“We source our milk locally to get the highest quality cheese from the talented dairy farmers in our region, as well as reduce food miles,” he said.
“There are also exciting new opportunities within the cheesemaking industry as we have recently been granted $5000 for education, training and development, which we use in conjunction with the Australian Artisan Cheese Making Academy under TAFE SA to upskill future cheesemakers in our state.”

Barton Gold recorded a $9.4 million loss in the 2023 financial year, with income dropping from $3.1 million in the previous period to $794,000.
The company said the loss reflected “the acceleration of key exploration growth and development programs”.
Independent non-executive chair Kenneth Williams said the company had been focussed on “the acceleration of major work programs to test priority targets, convert new mineralisation to JORC Mineral Resources, and begin validating our thesis for a competitive large-scale Gawler Craton gold platform”.
The company reported $6.3 million of net assets.

The Australian Good Design Awards 2024 saw VAILO and Lightforce both awarded at a Sydney ceremony.
VAILO received two accolades for its Zenith Gen-V PC Amber Floodlight, while Lightforce won for its Beast Driving Light.
The products were judged by a panel of 80 professionals in the industry, with VAILO’s product winning in the Engineering and Product Design categories and Lightforce recognised for Product Design.
Managing director of Good Design Australia Rachel Wye said that this year’s awards showcased the impact that exceptional design can have on the world.
“The projects honoured in these Awards exemplify how thoughtful design can drive meaningful change, not only enhancing user experiences and the way people interact with the world, but also contributing to a more sustainable and more prosperous future,” Wye said.

Renascor has collected 730 tonnes of graphite ore from its Siviour Graphite Deposit, which is being delivered to China to be processed into graphite concentrate.
The concentrate will be used for Renascor’s Purified Spherical Graphite demonstration facility, which will be constructed and operated with a $5 million government grant.
Renascor managing director David Christensen said the collection would help the company “build upon the significant work already completed on our downstream processing designs as we look to demonstrate that our eco-friendly, HF-free purification technology can create a competitive advantage”.
