Commenting on the story: Redesigned 10-storey apartment bid for Buckingham Arms

This does look much more sympathetic than the previous design. I sincerely hope a 10-storey version ends up being built.

Adelaide needs more infill so that our aging population can downsize and free up suburban homes.

Not everyone can afford an apartment in Gilberton, but maybe the well off baby boomers will buy these apartments instead of competing with others in suburbs further out – pushing up prices for everyone. – Patrick Sandeman

Commenting on the opinion piece: An affordable housing model worth revisiting

As a former tenant of two SA Housing Trust homes I can vouch for the necessity of reinstating this.

Barbara makes some good points but in the immediate future we need tiny homes now.We need to consider all possible forms of housing and stop accepting homelessness.

Families should be allowed to apply for a tiny home to be delivered to their suburban block and we need to relax the laws which prohibit flexible approaches. There are many and varied simple and immediate solutions, let’s not pretend otherwise. – Susan Coulter

Commenting on the story: Why Coles Express is leaving petrol stations

Stay informed, daily

This seems a very eastern states-centric article. What has happened in Adelaide is that Viva has taken over OTR and therefore Viva’s shell servos here have been sold and rebranded Caltex (due to competition issues judged by the ACCC I think).

There are very, very few Shell Express servos left, in fact I think there are none now in the metro area. So are we disadvantaged?

For a customer that shopped Shell and Coles Express for years, I say very much so. We concentrated on Flybuys so always received Flybuys on fuel purchases plus 4c Coles discount vouchers (now worthless of course) plus 4c additional discounts with AFL app or G’day Parks. So straight away we have lost 8c/l on our fuel buys.

The consolation is that we get 4c/l with the RAA at Ampol EG servos, but we are losing the additional 4c plus all points gained from buying fuel. – Tim Geue
