A police officer rescued an elderly resident by carrying her from her burning home at Semaphore South overnight.
Emergency services were called to the Military Rd unit after midnight following reports of a fire.
When police patrols arrived flames were coming from the unit but the resident was unable to leave due to mobility issues.
A police officer entered the burning home and carried the woman outside and down the street to safety.
Occupants of nearby units were also evacuated.
MFS crews contained the fire to the single unit but a neighbouring unit received smoke damage.
The rescued resident was taken to hospital with non life-threatening smoke inhalation, while the officer was assessed at the scene by ambulance crews.
The fire is believed to be non-suspicious but the cause is not yet known.
