Commenting on the story: Christians rally as council prayer row escalates

I have previously noted that in contrast to the claim of your reporter, those in the gallery left quietly apart from one person who commented loudly.

I omitted to report that one person stomped loudly on the way out but this was not imitated by the rest of the members of the public. – Alison Kastelein

Commenting on the story: Adelaide Aquatic Centre design lodged for formal tick of approval

The proposed new aquatic centre looks great, especially as it will be run on 100% renewable energy and be constructed with zero emissions in mind.

Charging stations for electric cars of course is essential as we transition to zero emissions transport, but there also needs to be charging stations for electric bicycles, scooters, skateboards and any other zero emissions transport. Consideration of zero emissions public transport after hours and on weekends to encourage people to maximise mass transport opportunities would also help.

As for the existing aquatic centre site, it would be great if it became a showcase for our native flora and fauna especially threatened, rare and locally extinct species. The Adelaide City Council has already taken steps in the East Parklands – Pakapakanthi to protect the rare chequered copper butterfly and its caterpillar host plant, oxalis perennans.

My group has developed a plan for a Mini Native Botanic Gardens to incorporate habitat and also serve as an educational resource for our people to better understand and support our local species and enhance our biodiversity. – Stephen Fuller

Commenting on the story: Matildas keep smashing ratings records

Stay informed, daily

This couldn’t be a better result in terms of accelerating equal pay and conditions for women in sport.

Why? Well, we all know that the high levels of renumeration sportsmen receive is connected to revenue from endorsements, sponsorship and advertising, not the numbers who rock up to stadia to watch them. Big TV audiences guarantee big revenue, and this should flow on to the players salaries.

Equality in sport won’t come overnight, but it will happen, and it can only happen when the amount of dollars connected to it is evenly distributed. – Christopher Saint
