Today, readers comment on a breastfeeding ban, nuclear waste storage, EV parking space fines and fair taxation.

Commenting on the opinion piece: Let’s talk about breasts, baby
Fabulous! What a great family conversation. Well done to you for engaging maturely with those enquiring and formative minds. The future is in good hands. – Debra Sarre
Commenting on the story: Targeting subs’ long-term nuclear waste impact
Someone on the radio pointed out the other day that if Neanderthals had nuclear power we would still be looking after the waste they created. – Michael White
Commenting on the story: Big fines jolt for illegal parking in EV spaces
When will South Australia wake up and do the same? – David Tuff
This makes sense, but why are the parking places close to the lifts in the market car park allocated to EV chargers, displacing disabled car parks?
This is simply discrimination. As an elderly disabled person needing to use a walker, I need to use the lift. – Jean Cannon
Commenting on the opinion piece: A capital time for fairer taxation
I follow the logic of most of what is said here, but what I and may people strongly object to is being taxed twice and sometimes three times or more by stealth, i.e. a tax by any other name should smell as bad, e.g. GST, stamp duty, emergency services levy, luxury car tax, etc., etc.
This is partly because we have three levels of government who all want to grab something more off you. Why can’t we set an appropriate level of tax on income and on goods and services, and then the residue of money is your own?
Why is it if I put that money in a bank I pay tax again on any pittance of interest accrued, whereas if I gamble it at the casino anything I win is tax free? I’ll never understand how this can ever be sensible or fair. – Christopher Saint
