Police have recovered the body of a man who went missing in the flooding River Murray yesterday.
Police divers found the body just before 8.30am today in floodplains near the River Murray in Loxton North.
The man has been identified as a 78-year-old local. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances with his death.
The man’s disappearance was first reported at around 1.30pm on Monday, prompting a major search involving police, the State Emergency Service and PolAir.
The search continued until last light yesterday and resumed this morning.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
It comes nearly a month after another elderly man’s body was found in a lagoon in the small Riverland locality of Taylorville, near the River Murray.
The man, who was discovered on December 11, was identified 10 days later as a 72-year-old man from Waikerie.
