Commenting on the story: Morrison grilled at robodebt Royal Commission

As expected: ‘Not my fault’. Oh for the days of Paddington Bear and real ministerial responsibility. – Vincent O’Donnell

This article exemplifies exactly why the general public distrust politicians (not all, but most). For a minister to abrogate their ministerial responsibility to a departmental head because they “received advice from their departments” is utter nonsense.

That is what ministers get paid and sign up for. They must be held accountable for departmental decisions, including not heeding advice from their experienced staff. Shameful. – Maria Russo

Commenting on the story: ‘No pain no gain’: 125 more properties to make way for North-South Corridor

And what has been built into the plan to avoid Cross Road becoming the major feeder route with the north-south corridor? Thereby funnelling all heavy vehicle road freight with the South-Eastern Freeway onto Cross Road.

I can’t imagine any truck operator using Portrush Road if the new north-south corridor provides a faster transit option.

That would be a disastrous outcome given the number of schools, aged care, childcare and retail businesses along Cross Road, not to mention the additional costs of noise mitigation along Cross Road (eg. new brick fences for adjacent housing, similar to Portrush Road). – Paul McKinnon

Commenting on the opinion piece: Hotel booking sites make it harder to get cheaper rooms – but there’s a solution

Why pay a middleman when you can phone directly to the accommodation of your choice and get a better deal more often than not. Seems to me the current generation have lost the ability do do anything without a computer at their fingertips! – Leon Wittwer
