Four arrested after service station crime spree

Four people have been arrested after threatening staff with knives in four service station robberies in the northern and eastern suburbs late last night.

A 24-year-old Andrews Farm woman, a 22-year-old Modbury man, a 17-year-old Craigmore boy and a 14-year-old Northfield boy were all charged with aggravated robbery and theft offences.

All four suspects were refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Courts today.

Their crime spree began at about 9.45pm when police were called to a service station on John Rice Avenue at Elizabeth South after reports two males entered with a knife, threatened a staff member and demanded cash.

They left the store empty handed.

At 10.20pm, two suspects entered a service station on Port Wakefield Road at Cavan.

One was armed with a knife and threatened the console operator who handed over cash and tobacco products.

About 15 minutes later, two males armed with knives entered a service station on Bridge Road at Pooraka, threatened staff and demanding cash from the till.

The pair stole the cash from the store and fled on foot.

At 10.48pm, two males entered a service station on North East Road at Modbury but fled after being refused cash.

A short time later police stopped a white utility and two people attempted to run from the scene.

They were caught on Kelly Road at Modbury.

Patrols searched the area and found one of the suspects near a creek with the help of a police dog.

The other suspect was located on a nearby back street by patrols.

Police searched the car and located a knife allegedly used in the robberies.

No-one was physically injured in the attacks.
