Neil Kerley died from ‘medical episode’
Police say the death of SA football legend Neil Kerley, whose car crashed at Walker Flat last month, has been attributed to a medical episode.
Kerley, 88, was driving on Mallee Road at Walker Flat on June 29 when his car left the road and crashed through a fence into a paddock.
Police said Kerley, the car’s sole occupant, died at the scene.
His death prompted an outpouring of tributes for the trailblazing player and coach known as SA’s Mr Football, with his family accepting the Malinauskas Government’s offer of a state funeral.

But police this afternoon issued a statement saying that the death of an 88-year-old man involved in a crash at Mallee Road at Walker Flat on June 29 “has been determined to be due to a medical episode”.
The death would therefore not be recorded as part of the road toll, which had been revised down to 42 for the year to date.
Kerley’s state funeral will be held at Adelaide Oval on Monday, July 25.
