Today’s deaths include a woman in her 80s, two women in their 90s, a man in his 80s, a man in his 90s and a man over 100.

It bring the state’s overall COVID-19 death toll to 531.

There are currently 210 people in hospital with COVID-19 – down from 216 yesterday – and nine people in ICU.

Of those in hospital, 117 have received three or more vaccine doses while 87 are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated. Six have an unknown vaccination status.

SA Health says 93.9 per cent of eligible South Australians have received two doses of a vaccine and 73.1 per cent have received a bosster.

Today’s 2137 cases are a slight increase on the 1996 reported on Sunday although well down on COVID-19 infections last week which hovered between 2300 and 2800 a day.

SA Health is forecasting the state could be recording up to 5000 cases a day by July 12 driven by the spread of new Omicron subvariant BA.5.
