Commenting on the story: Marshall promises more international flights to Adelaide
If the current government is serious about taking South Australia to the next level, they have to fix the transport system.
SA has been called a backwater by other states, and in this area we still are. The new airport has made us a global player. The current transport – particularly the train system – is an embarrassment and exactly the same as the old airport was to South Australia.
Every report indicates that the train system is fine. I would encourage the key players here to take a real look and compare it to the system in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It is a fantastic system in Queensland and is managed by the same company. Let that company draw up the plan. It clearly knows what it is doing. Until this occurs, we will languish and not achieve what we could. – Merydith Willoughby
Not sure why it’s needed to spend taxpayers money to ‘lure’ direct flights back to Adelaide. The level of bookings on airlines offering direct flights would indicate to those currently not operating direct flights that there is a need. Plus if those contemplating long haul flights were to give direct feedback to those airlines then they’d get the message.
I flew Emirates the last two times we returned to the UK. Not only were they direct but they offer a short ‘layover’ time, when with long haul flights the shortest time is for many a strong consideration. – Helen ChadwickCommenting on the story:

Commenting on the story: Greens call for ‘cycling revolution’ at 2022 election
I love the idea of a Walking and Cycling Commissioner for SA and I will be asking all my local candidates to commit to supporting the The Greens SA idea.
Safer walking and cycling in SA will lead to: better physical and mental health for young and old (particularly with new e-bikes); less congestion – freeing up the roads for those who need to drive; savings – to be spent in the local economy; less noise and air pollution; and a cheap, quick and accessible fix to so many issues facing South Australians.
Having an independent Commissioner is a fantastic idea in my eyes, and will hopefully help residents navigate the blame-shifting game between councils and the state government. – Andrea van Eyk

This is a composed, truth-seeking, compassionate and moving history article which many people would be unaware of and that deserved to be re-examined. – Michael Pilkington
