Commenting on What we know Tuesday February 15: Labor promises to review Brompton gasworks decision for Crows
The Crows have flown, Peter. Leave it alone. Brompton is for people to live in, not for sporting franchises to operate their businesses from. – Paul Anderson
Commenting on the story: Man ‘left in faeces and urine’ with infected wound at Govt facility
I think you will find the practice of only changing continence garments once per shift, ie, three times a day is because that is all the government will pay for.
When my father was in care we noticed this problem of smell and faecal incontinence. Dad had an indwelling urinary catheter, and asked staff to rectify. Answer was no, as there were only three incontinence garments per day. This was evident by the three garment hanging container on Dad’s bathroom door.
So I asked Mum to ensure Dad had access to more frequent changing when soiled and so she bought large supplies from the chemist or supermarket for him. The staff changed him more frequently and, so this resolved this issue. This prevented further excoriation of his buttock skin, which eventually healed. Sadly, this is how it is. – Name supplied
Commenting on the story: Premier apologises for disability care failings
Can we trust the Premier when he says: “And if there’s need for overall system change then that will be put into place.”?
On 17/6/2021, in response to shortcomings at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Mr Marshall is on record as saying that “if there is further money required then we will be providing that”. Later however the quote has been explained as being “taken out of context”.
For over six months I have been seeking clarification from the Premier and the Health Minister (whom the Premier’s office said I needed to approach for the clarification, even though the Premier was the one to make the statement), as to what the context of the quote was, and no one is willing to answer the question.
Seems like the Premier and his government are great at making statements to deflect the story, and hoping that the 24 hour news cycle moves along and they are not held accountable. – David Kayser
