Once again, city development is predicated upon Government departments making the move into luxurious new buildings from their existing buildings.
This is neither “growth” nor “development”. The key word in the article was “relocate” existing staff. No additional staff, and lots of existing buildings left empty as the public servants “relocate” to other areas of the city.
Just as cafes and lunch providers near the new building will benefit from the development, another group of existing cafes etc will lose their business. Seems just like shifting the deck chairs on the Titanic, really.
Encouraging organisations that are not based in SA to relocate would represent real growth and development. – Peter Macdonald

I hardly think that saying that Angelakis, Haighs etc are new to the Central Market is entirely true. They’ve been part of the Arcade complex for ages so have merely moved due to the impending closure of the arcade. – Mark Roberts
What a monstrosity. Nice to have a vision, but under what part of the Adelaide council’s charter is such a project justified.
It’s totally out of balance with the area, skyline and well everything else that could be wrong. The heritage aspect of the whole area will be so undermined.
If there was a need for such a building then surely it could have been designed in line with the character of all buildings in the area. Horrible, simply horrible. – Royce Wilson
