Today we reveal the second group of companies in InDaily’s South Australian Business Index – our annual review of the top private and public companies in the state.
InDaily’s annual ranking of the state’s top 100 companies by market capitalisation and revenue covers the 2019/20 financial year and includes more volatility than usual, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The list, compiled for InDaily by Adelaide financial services firm Taylor Collison, is the state’s most definitive guide to our top companies (scroll to the bottom of the page for eligibility criteria).
The countdown began yesterday, with the companies ranked 100 to 81, and will continue all week – with the top 20 and full list revealed on Friday.
Taylor Collison director Scott Dolling made special mention of infrastructure company Korvest which increased its net profit after tax by 24 per cent in 2019-20 and has been winning new projects this financial year.
“We expect new mine construction and a pipeline of infrastructure projects, particularly those involving tunnels, to present ongoing opportunities for Korvest,” Dolling said.
He also noted the strong performance of Cochrane’s – a local trucking and logistics company led by chairwoman Jodie Hill.
He said the company had recently committed further to South Australia – and planned for growth – by moving the entire business to a new, purpose-built $20 million site at Gillman featuring an automated parcel sorting line, drive-through truck wash, and axle weighbridge and onsite mechanical workshop.
“New CEO Martin Robb (ex Blackmore’s in Sydney) joined in July this year, and their next-day express parcel delivery service to all of SA is in high demand with the surge in online shopping,” Dolling said.
