It’s strange to me how quick people are to dismiss the Adelaide 500 by citing “dwindling crowds” and “stale format”. 200,000 attendees over four days is still a massive event.
There were eight men’s BBL matches at Adelaide oval last season for 201,000 attendees. And it wasn’t too long ago that one South Australian AFL team would only welcome 200,000-300,000 for an entire season.
I appreciate that there are minimal road closures around Adelaide oval for the cricket or AFL compared with a street race, but still. Or is it the government funding issue? Let me just google to see if Adelaide Oval has ever received government funding… – Tom Sheldrick

Finall, good forward thinking. Formula E has progressed quickly over the last few years.
Mixing technology with events give it a good chance of success, so much can be done in this model. If we had been smart enough we would have put electric self-drive buses down North Terrace and to the Festival Centre, but no, we paid millions to put a break away hopeless tram system in.
Supercars lost the plot two or three years ago and since then crowds and support has quickly disappeared. They don’t even seem to have a plan going forward, turned a great sport into Nascar-style rubbish.

I may be thoughtless, but as an ex-serviceman, what has a discussion about abortion got to do “politicising Remembrance Day“.
You could argue that discussing anything on Remembrance Day is “politicising it“. Make it a public holiday and don’t discuss anything.
It is a day where we commemorate and remember all those who have fallen in war – not penny antics. – Garry Shearing

This is not a lobster, it is a bloody crayfish. There are no lobsters in Australia, even if you try to deceive people by naming them “rock lobster” for publicity purposes.
