Commenting on the story: “No shortcut” for returning students despite SA Govt exemption
The SA and Australian governments have no conscience and are conveniently ignoring the facts.
There are so many Australians stranded overseas who cannot return home, and now SA is going to make it even more difficult by allowing international students to take ‘rare as hens teeth’ seats on flights to Australia.
Please note, some countries have not lifted their border restrictions, and flights are not available to Australia in those countries. These Aussies have been stranded for months.
If and when a flight becomes available, the cap on numbers means most Aussies stranded o/s will not be able to get a seat at less than the price of a first class ticket. Please remember many of these Aussie have no income while they are stranded – no access to any Govt support (which they would be eligible for if they could get back to Australia) and are now in a bad way.
I understand the economic argument for the universities but please bring our Australian citizens home first.

We are appalled that South Australians with young families interstate are banned from visiting them and returning to SA to quarantine, yet foreign students from COVID hotspots overseas will get priority to enter our state and use hotel quarantine under this proposal by Senator Birmingham and our State Government.
All for a buck! If the risks from South Australians travelling in our own country are too high to allow it, why on earth do politicians think it’s fine for foreigners to come here from COVID hotspots?
Please put a stop to this crazy proposal. – Andrew Stock
No shortcut for returning international students sounds like a great idea for their education and our economy, but what does that really entail and at what cost?
Okay, they foot the bill, but what about the cost to our health?
I cannot imagine 300 students, safely and securely in hotel quarantine, let alone self-isolating, for more than a couple of days.
The whole idea is too risky. Let’s keep health as our primary goal. – Peter Hart

Tom, you are an idiot and so so biased. At least you admit it, I guess.
But it is because of people like you that the Crows are doing as good as they are (or should that read as bad as they are). You live so much in the past and make so many excuses for losses, i.e. 2016 finals; you lost because Patrick Dangerfield had moved to Geelong. When we lose we demand answers, you just accept it. Plus Port do not make excuses for their losses or for playing badly.
You also have so much resentment for those who leave the club. No wonder players leave with a lot of bitterness i.e. Tippett, Lever, Cameron etc. Port understand that when someone has to go back home we give them support and understanding and do a wonderful write up in the Port website and wish them all the best. And these guys are still in contact with each other.
I am glad to hear that you have finally come to the realisation that Crows will not be in the finals. I still can’t believe they haven’t won a match since 3 August 2019. It is really funny how the fans in the bottom eight say, oh it is a non-event this year and the finals don’t count. You tell that to all the players out there running, tackling and kicking and playing their hearts out to win.
One of your biggest errors as well was to put all your eggs in one basket to get Gibbs back. You missed your chance the year before and should have left it at that. But no, you gave up two first round picks. And where has that got you. Plus some of the old players on the board have way to much say. I think the club needs to revamp the board as well.
Yes, Port were not the best on Saturday night, I will be the first to admit that. But I think with all the travelling and the tight schedule, teams are allowed to have a bad week every now and then. We are still on top of the ladder and I am still proud of my boys. Sometimes you have to lose to win, and they will come out fighting on Saturday night. Plus they came off a huge match six days earlier. That match would have drained most teams.
On a positive note, yes there are some good signs there. Crows can play really well but this year they can’t play four quarters of football, even though the quarters are shorter. You will get some good picks this year – I just hope you use them well. I can’t believe how well Port has recruited. Those young guns are going to be even more brilliant with good coaching, experience and good support. – Sue Rohde
