Senior prosecutor joins Magistrates Court
Senior Adelaide prosecutor Kate Hodder has been appointed to the Magistrates Court of South Australia.
Making the announcement this morning, Attorney-General Vickie Chapman said Hodder had more than 30 years experience as a solicitor and counsel, working across criminal, civil and child protection matters.
Hodder began her career with the Legal Services Commission and a private law firm before joining the Crown Solicitor’s Office.
She then acted as Senior Counsel Assisting the Coroner before moving to the Office of the Director for Public Prosecutions, where she was a key member of the Child Protection Systems Royal Commission in 2013/14.
“Since 2013, Ms Hodder has worked within the Office of the Director for Public Prosecutions as a senior solicitor/prosecutor and has co-ordinated advice from that office to help reform a number of our state’s criminal laws, along with continuing to appear in the Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeal,” Chapman said.
“She has also played a key part in developing and sharing the wealth of knowledge within the ODPP to the benefit of all staff.
“I am pleased to appoint Ms Hodder to the Magistrates Court and congratulate her on the new and exciting opportunity. I am confident she will make an excellent contribution to the state’s judiciary.”
Hodder will begin at the Magistrate Court on June 3.
