Get on with building city bikeway already
Commenting on the story: State Govt open to giving more money to build city bikeway
It is incredibly disappointing that the Council is so reluctant to be brave and implement the vision of earlier councils, to give cyclists at least one separated bikeway in both directions across the city and linking with other councils’ bikeways east and west of the city.
The latest version of the Frome St bikeway has set a good standard for a separated bikeway, and evidence from other places has shown that all road-users benefit and that traders and businesses along the route prosper if they are properly consulted and are prepared to cooperate in the design development.
The Flinders-Franklin option has much to commend it, and at the same time these two significant streets will gain a long-overdue streetscape upgrade as an integral part of the cost. Properties along the way will upgrade and values will rise, again offsetting the cost.

I favour the Canadian system, which I understand is a declaration of human responsibilities: If I am a citizen, it is my responsibility to treat fellow citizens with equality and dignity irrespective of …. etc.
Much easier to prove someone is guilty, than trying to show that my rights were abused wholly or in part by that group and that group and that person, to this degree.
