SA retail spending falls
Retail spending fell in South Australia in April, with national figures showing SA was the only state to record a drop.
Australian Bureau of Statistics data released today shows Australian retail turnover rose 0.4 per cent in April 2018 (seasonally adjusted estimate), following a flat result in March.
All states and territories recorded an increase in April, apart from South Australia which recorded a fall of 0.6 per cent.
Nationally, the increase was just above the 0.3 per cent rise the market was forecasting.

Seasonally adjusted retail spending rose to $26.557 billion in the month.
Spending on food and household goods retailing both rose 0.4 per cent in April, while clothing, footwear and personal accessory sales fell 0.2 per cent.
The Australian dollar got a slight boost, rising to 75.97 US cents at 1138 AEST, up from 75.85 US cents immediately before the 1130 AEST data release.
