Upcoming food and wine events in South Australia, including a festive Fork on the Road, a twilight wine and cheese picnic in Hindmarsh Square, and a Christmas dessert-making demonstration.
The final Fork on the Road food truck event for the year will see around 30 mobile vendors converge on Victoria Square from 5pm until 9pm on Friday. In addition to “everything slow-cooked, pulled, fried, grilled, baked and wok-tossed”, Forkmas will also feature drinks from 10 craft breweries, local wineries and cider-makers. There will be family entertainment, and those attending are encouraged to take a gift for donation to the Smith Family’s toy and book appeal.
Try wines from 15 different South Australian wineries, as well as cheese from local producers such as Barossa Cheese, B.-d. Adelaide Central Market’s final free Christmas cooking demonstrations will take place from 6pm to 7pm this Friday, with 2015 MasterChef finalist Jessie Spiby demonstrating how to make one of her favourite modern Christmas desserts.
Tickets are on sale now for this three-course dinner which will be cooked by chef Tom Boden of Rare Bird Food and accompanied by McLaren Vale beer and wines. The event, taking place at McLaren Vale Oval, will also include a gala auction and live entertainment, with proceeds from the $125-per-head dinner going to support the McLaren Vale District Hospital and local community. The Adelaide Hills annual Crush festival will see wineries all over the region hosting events including tastings, master-classes, long lunches, picnics and more. Ticketed events include a summer regatta at Howard Vineyard, Shakespeare in the Vines at Deviation Road Winery, a Balearic Beats Dinner Dance (including Spanish feast) at Ten Miles East, and a movie night at O’Leary Walker. Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Cellar Door Fest next February at the Adelaide Convention Centre. There will be 180 wineries, breweries, distilleries and food producers providing tastings over three full days, with the chance to take part in a number of masterclasses. The festival will run from 5pm to 9pm on Friday, February 24, until 6pm on Sunday, February 26.
Details have been released of six long lunches that will take place on the floating Riverbank Palais on the Torrens during the 2017 Adelaide Festival. The lunches will be hosted by chefs Cheong Liew, Cath Kerry, Christine Manfield, Mark Best, Karla Firla and Michael Ryan, with dishes paying tribute to the 1980s.
