Cat Clark’s long way back
Mitch Clark’s stop-start AFL career finally resumes again this weekend when he plays for the first time in more than year.
The Geelong forward will turn out for their VFL team at Simonds Stadium against Williamstown.
The 28-year-old ruck-forward has overcome a calf muscle injury that had plagued him since earlier this year.
His most recent game was Geelong’s round-nine AFL match last year against West Coast.
“It’s been a while in between drinks,” Clark told the club website.
“I’m just excited for the weekend and to get back playing footy.
“No doubt I will be a bit rusty.”
The former Melbourne and Brisbane player has played eight games for Geelong after having a year out of AFL in 2014 because of well-documented mental health issues.
Clark has kicked 111 goals in 105 matches.
He is to become the father of twins in September.

Cats captain Joel Selwood said Clark’s comeback was excellent news for the club.
“We just hope that he gets out there and enjoys it this weekend,” Selwood said.
“He is a very, very good player and we just expect him to go out and do his best.”
