It looks like Sydney is sweet on Adelaide’s Haigh’s Chocolates with the local favourite set to open its third store in the premium market.
Haigh’s announced today it would open a store at Chatswood Chase Sydney in March, its first on the North Shore.
Centre manager Tony Gardiner said the retailer was a good fit for the centre.
“It’s a great addition to our stellar line-up of Australian and international brands,” Gardiner said.
Since Haigh’s opened its first store in Sydney’s Strand Arcade a decade ago, the company said demand for its produce had grown “exponentially” year on year.
“We opened our second and now flagship Sydney store in the CBD Queen Victoria Building just three years ago in response to the incredible support that we received for our fine chocolate,” chief executive Alister Haigh said.
“This support gave us confidence and drove our decision to expand again, this time over the [Sydney Harbour] bridge, on the North Shore.
“Every Haigh’s store location must satisfy our set criteria and we’re happy to bide our time to wait for the right place.”
Haigh’s Chocolates, Australia’s oldest family-owned chocolate maker, was placed in position 71 in the InDaily Business Index Top 100 South Australian companies for 2015.
The company, which has more than 400 employees, celebrated its centenary last year and has grown to produce a financial year revenue of about $51 million.
The new outlet brings Haigh’s national store total to 15.
