Forkmas – December 18 – CANCELLED
Adelaide’s favourite food trucks will be joined by 20 local wineries and five breweries for a Christmas Fork on the Road event in Victoria Square from 5pm to 10pm. Expect to see food trucks including Burger Theory, Chimichurri Grill, Sneaky Pickle and Skwish, wine producers such as d’Arenberg, Yangarra, Hesketh and Shottesbrook, and brews from Swell Brewing, Lobo, Wheatsheaf Brewing, Pirate Life and Big Shed Brewing. Family entertainment will be provided, as well as a ‘gift tree’ for unwrapped gifts that will be donated to children in need. More information can be found here.
Due to extreme temperatures predicted after 6pm, the Christmas Fork on the Road event in Victoria Square has been cancelled. The event organisers will reschedule as soon as possible.
Stirling Market – December 20
The Stirling Market has your festive shopping list covered with a host of food stalls offering handmade gourmet produce, such as Christmas cakes, puddings, tarts, cheeses, fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables and more. The market runs from 10am to 4pm. More information can be found here.
Howard’s Cook Off Xmas Gathering – December 20
For those who’ve enjoyed all the fun of Howard’s Cook Offs at The Duke this year, a Christmas gathering (non-competition event) will be held at 12pm “for those not busy doing something else”. Bring your favourite Christmas treat to share. Contact The Duke of Brunswick Hotel for more information.
Adelaide Street Food Festival – December 19 – 20
Hosted by Flinders Street Market, Adelaide Street Food Festival will bring together an array of food trucks, street-food stalls and gift stalls for a festive Christmas market. Flinders Street Market is a small community market on Flinders Street which offers an eclectic mix of food, craft, gifts, fresh produce, plants, vintage wares and fashion. Celebrity chef and ethical food champion Simon Bryant will be serving up hawker-style food alongside other food and drink offerings from Steve the Bartender, Daisy Burger, Haddo’s Hot Dogs, Moorish Bites, Ukus Balkan Street Food, Tara Let’s Eat – Filipino Street Food and more. Prospect Christmas Farmers’ Market – December 21
This market will be the last Prospect Farmers’ Market event before Christmas and the last market of the year. It is being held on the Monday before Christmas, instead of the usual Thursday afternoon, to provide an opportunity for shoppers to get organised a few days before the festive rush. Expect around 20 local farmers selling South Australian produce including nectarines, peaches, apricots and cherries from Merry Cherry Farms and Eko Fruits. Najobe Beef and Zara Grace Lamb from the Adelaide Hills will also be available, as well as Bush Tucker Ice Cream. The market will be open from 3pm until 7pm at the Vine Court Plaza adjacent to the Prospect Town Hall on Prospect Road. The market will be closed on December 24 and 31, but will re-open on January 7 and continue trading as usual into 2016.
Willunga Farmers’ Market Christmas Twilight Market – December 23
More than 60 regular Willunga Farmers’ Market stallholders are coming together for this twilight market from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, selling fresh produce from regional farms and other fresh and seasonal goods from the Fleurieu Peninsula. Hot foods will also be available to purchase from stallholders, including Little Acre Foods, Small Town Huckster, Farm House Crepes and Bush Pepper Catering.

Crush – January 22 to 24
Don’t miss out on the ticketed and cluster events at the Adelaide Hills’ annual wine and food festival, Crush 2016. The program has been released, giving details of exclusive events including: Dinner with the Broderick family in the tractor shed overlooking their Basket Range Wines vineyard, with wines paired with food by Alice Nettleton from Quince Catering; the transformation of Deviation Road Winery into the feuding streets of Verona for Essential Theatre’s production of Romeo and Juliet; a degustation lunch at Mt Lofty House where chef Girard Ramsay will pair examples of Adelaide Hills’ Gruner Veltliner wines with Asian-inspired food; and a long lunch hosted by Brian Croser and Richard Gunner at Tapanappa Wines exploring grape variety and terroir alongside animal breed.
Tasting Australia – May 1 to 8
While the full Tasting Australia 2016 program won’t be released until the New Year, bookings are open for some of the exclusive events. They include: the Barossa Regional Roving Lunch – a progressive lunch tour of Hentley Farm, Appellation and Fino at Seppeltsfield, hosted by celebrated chefs who know how to capture the flavours of the surrounding Barossa landscape; Lamb Tasting at Rawnsley Park – an authentic lamb-inspired dinner in the historic Flinders Ranges woolshed; the Cheong Liew Retrospective –a showcase dinner at which Liew’s team of apprentices are brought back to the Hilton to reinterpret and celebrate the iconic dishes created by their mentor and teacher; The Barossa Camino – a 7km guided walk through the vineyards of Mt Edelstone, Hutton Vale Farm and Hill of Grace with the Henschke and Angas families before a big Barossa lunch; and a Wild Mushroom Forest Feast in the Adelaide Hills with expert mushroom guides to learn the secrets of the local fungi before sitting down to a lunch of wild mushrooms and natural wine. Losing the Plot: food gardening in South Australia explores the history of growing food in South Australia. It examines the stories behind the food on our plates from Aboriginal food production and school and community gardens to the home garden and market gardens in SA, and is accompanied by a program of workshops and talks focussing on food gardening and the use of garden produce in preserving and cooking.
