Dubbed ‘Dawn’, the $749,000 car is the latest new two-door soft top convertible made by the renowned British company.

Sydney was chosen for its Asia Pacific launch on Wednesday, with Australian car enthusiasts getting a glimpse of the prototype before it hits roads in mid 2016.

Rolls Royce Asia Pacific general manager Michael Schneider says Dawn is a departure from the usual chauffeur-driven options like the famous Phantom – it’s designed to be driven by the owner and customised to their liking.

“It’s a very informal car,” he told AAP.

“If you run through the range of models we have, and if you take a gentleman’s wardrobe analogy, Phantom might be your tuxedo, Ghost might be your perfectly tailored business suit, we’ve got Wraith already which is much more business smart casual, and Dawn is a very casual car.”

The car is also a way for the maker to broaden its appeal to the female market, which Schneider says is growing.

“They won’t shy away from driving a car like this,” he said.

Buyers can have Dawn customised to suit their personal style, with a range of features including monogrammed seats and picnic baskets.
