Ashes: Rogers’ condition improves
Chris Rogers has been cleared of serious damage and could yet feature in the third Ashes Test.
Rogers retired hurt on day four of the second Test due to a concerning sudden bout of dizziness on day four.
The 37-year-old played no further part in Australia’s emphatic 405-run win, but appeared to be in good spirits on the Lord’s balcony on Sunday.
The fear was Rogers may be suffering from delayed onset of concussion, having been struck on the helmet on day two.
However, team doctor Peter Brukner and physio Alex Kontouris are confident his woes are related to an ear problem after consulting a specialist on Monday.
“Chris’s condition is certainly improving,” Brukner said.
“The initial scans have cleared him of any serious damage and we await the results of further tests.
“It appears the most likely diagnosis is a delayed ear problem related to being stuck on day two.”
Rogers was going to be rested from Australia’s tour game against Derbyshire this week regardless.

“So he has time to continue resting ahead of the Test match,” Brukner said.
“As as precaution he’ll be reviewed by the specialist in London again on Wednesday morning before re-joining the touring party.”
