The Department of Education and Child Development launches its Key Initiative: Progressive Achievement Testing (PAT) at an event presented with The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre on Tuesday 11 August at 6pm. This event celebrates the partnership of DECDs with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) and highlights the importance of measuring growth in student achievement.
The Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) have been developed over many years by ACER’s expert team of test developers and psychometricians to meet a need for high-quality tools that support the investigation and diagnosis of student learning. The PAT tests are focused on supporting teachers to gather evidence to establish where students are in their long-term learning, identify the best next steps for action, decide on appropriate evidence-based interventions, monitor what progress their students are making over time, and evaluate the effectiveness of their own teaching decisions and approaches.
The program will include a keynote presentation: Assessment – Getting to the Essence from Professor Geoff Masters, Chief Executive, ACER followed by a panel discussion.
