Two new ship-to-shore cranes installed at Outer Harbor will improve the reach and competitiveness of South Australian exports, Premier Jay Weatherill says.
The $24 million cranes, purchased by Flinders Ports, will allow for faster loading of ships and should attract more direct services between South Australia and key export markets.
“Direct services improve the competitiveness of South Australian industry by reducing the need to transport containers through Melbourne and other interstate ports,” the Premier said.
The Liebherr container cranes are 65m high, stretching to 105m when raised.
