Australia’s unemployment rate has eased from its 12 year high to 6.3 per cent, as jobs were added to the economy and more people dropped out of the labour force.
The total number of people with jobs rose 15,600 to 11.652 million in February, with full-time employment rising 10,300 and part-time employment up 5,300.
The participation rate – the number of people that have a job, are looking for work or are ready to start work – fell to 64.6 per cent, the Australian Bureau of statistics said on Thursday.
In South Australia, the unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) dropped from 7.2 per cent in January to 6.9 per cent.

The trend rate was up slightly – from 6.9 per cent to 7.0.
South Australia’s unemployment level remains the highest in Australia, followed by Tasmania and Victoria both on 6.6 per cent.
