Asian Cup: Socceroos fine-tune in secret
The Socceroos will hold a secretive training session to put the finishing touches on their Asian Cup preparations.
Coach Ange Postecoglou will put his players through an hour-long session at Melbourne’s AAMI Park on Thursday evening, where a day later they host Kuwait in the tournament opener.
Media will be allowed to watch just the initial 15 minutes of the session before being removed and the stadium closed as Postecoglou fine tunes his tactics for the long-awaited opener.
“That is what we’re working on every day – how we’re going to expose teams,” defender Matt Spiranovic said.
“We have got some fantastic quality in the team and we will worry any side at this tournament.”
Postecoglou will settle on his side but is likely to keep it under wraps until handing in the team sheets for the encounter with the unfancied Kuwaitis.
Some tickets remain at the 30,000 capacity venue for the first of 32 matches in 23 days of the cup.

And evergreen midfielder Mark Bresciano has urged as many fans as possible to turn up, saying the home support will be vital for the Socceroos.
“It’s going to be a special occasion for us as players and the whole country,” Bresciano said.
“Playing on our home soil could be the major thing for us.”
